Remembering the New Cross Fire

Today is a day to remember. To remember the 13 young people who died in the fire in New Cross 40 years’ ago today on the 18th January 1981. The young man so traumatised by the fire, the loss of his friends, that he took his own life 2 years later. For those 56 young people, some maimed for life by the fire, all traumatised by the experience, our thoughts are with you. Our hearts go out to them and the family and friends who lost so much on that day.

If you have been following our long harrowing blog over the last few days about this tragic event you may wish today to pause for a moment. Take a moment during this day to pause and pay your respects to these young Black people who lost their lives before their time was due.
